What the standard set includes
Each set brings together the cards, their booklet and a folding box. The published prices apply to this specific combination, confirmed on 13 September 2026:
- 78 cards: standard tarot size, 70 × 120 mm.
- Thin lamination: 30 microns, matte or gloss at the same price.
- Printed booklet: 48 pages including covers.
- Standard folding box: included in the set price.
Artwork preparation and delivery are separate. A different card count, finish, box or booklet creates a different specification and needs its own confirmed price. The artwork guide and templates explain how to prepare the components you select.
A worked example: 48 sets delivered to the United States
For 48 standard sets, the products cost $619.20. The delivery calculator checked on 13 September 2026 showed $144.00 for delivery to the United States, including insurance. With no preparation service selected, that gives $763.20 for products and delivery.
| Part of the order | Amount (USD) |
|---|---|
| 48 standard sets × $12.90 | $619.20 |
| Delivery to the United States | $144.00 |
| Products and delivery | $763.20 |
This is a dated delivery example for the stated destination. It does not establish that every tax or import charge is included. Review the delivery and import terms and your confirmed order total before payment. Other destinations need their own delivery estimate.
What is the minimum tarot print run?
New printing starts at 12 decks per design. The online order supports 12–192 per design in multiples of 12, with a separate maximum of 200 newly printed decks across the order. Larger quantities need an enquiry.
The price comparison in this guide covers five confirmed quantities: 12, 24, 48, 96 and 192 sets. Other supported quantities need a confirmed quote; their prices should not be inferred from the neighbouring tiers.
Wholesale stock follows different rules. You can combine stock editions to reach 12 decks in total, with at least five of each selected stock edition, subject to availability. Stock and Made to Order can form a mixed order, but each Made to Order design still follows the new-print quantities.
Use custom tarot printing for your illustrations, or the wholesale catalogue for existing designs.
How much should you print for a first launch?
Begin with the copies you can already account for: confirmed commitments, copies you will keep and any review or display copies you intend to allocate. Then decide how much unsold stock you are comfortable holding. Compare the full products total as well as the price of one set.
For example, moving from 24 to 48 standard sets lowers the unit price from $14.90 to $12.90, but raises the products total from $357.60 to $619.20. You commit another $261.60 and receive 24 more sets, before delivery. A lower unit price is useful only when the larger run fits your budget and plans.
If you are still comparing production models, read batch tarot printing versus print on demand. A batch order and an automated service that sends each customer a deck involve different responsibilities.
Does artwork preparation cost extra?
Card-front files for your own artwork must be supplied ready. Ready files and minor company, logo or QR changes are free under the current order terms. Below 60 decks, the optional preparation services are $50 for a box layout, $50 for a new card-back layout and $150 for a new booklet layout from supplied text. Only selected services are added.
From 60 decks of the same design, the listed preparation services are included at no additional charge. Preparation and physical printing are different parts of an order: a layout service does not make an optional printed component free. In the standard set priced above, the physical box and 48-page booklet are already included.
The 48-set delivery example selects no preparation service. If you need help, agree the selected service and total before payment. The current order terms set out the available preparation and payment arrangements.
Compare like for like before ordering
A useful quote identifies the card count and size, finish, packaging, booklet, preparation help and destination. Keep those choices together when you compare quantities or suppliers. A cards-only price and a complete-set price describe different products.
Box fit and files still need review for your selected combination. An illustrative image does not define the artwork or physical contents of your order. Use the matching templates and retain an editable master of every component.
From a planned batch to an approved print run
Orders are paid in full through Shopify. You can provide artwork before payment or send it afterwards. After the order, Dark Forest contacts you to confirm the artwork and any preparation help. Production begins only after you approve the exact files.
A digital proof is a review of production files, not a physical colour sample. Physical sample purchasing is not currently enabled. For a step-by-step file and proof review, use the self-publishing checklist.
