Buying Tarot Decks from Ukraine After Brexit: UK Customs, VAT and Delivery
A UK shop can buy complete boxed tarot decks made in Ukraine from 12 decks at $15.90 each ($190.80 of goods), with delivery to Great Britain as a separate line: $33.00 for twelve decks, $2.75 a deck, in 5–9 business days once the order has been made, which takes 3–4 weeks. Because the parcel crosses the UK border after Brexit, import VAT and possibly customs duty apply on arrival; the rules below are quoted from gov.uk. Prices and delivery were read live from the pricing service on 4 November 2026.

The short answer: price, delivery and lead time for a UK order
One ladder applies to every destination; delivery is added on top, by country. The table is for a complete 78-card deck with its printed box and 48-page booklet inside the price.
| Decks in the order | Per deck | Goods total | Delivery to Great Britain |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 — the minimum | $15.90 | $190.80 | $33.00 |
| 24 | $14.90 | $357.60 | $66.00 |
| 48 | $12.90 | $619.20 | $132.00 |
| 96 | $11.90 | $1,142.40 | $264.00 |
| 192 | $10.90 | $2,092.80 | $528.00 |
Delivery to Great Britain is a flat $2.75 a deck: $33.00 for twelve decks. Payment is by prepayment, and made-to-order decks take 3–4 weeks to produce before they ship. Import VAT and any duty are not included in either line; they are set by UK rules and collected when the parcel enters the country, as explained next.

VAT on a tarot order shipped to the UK
The first thing to know is the £135 line. According to gov.uk’s guidance on goods sent from abroad, goods worth £135 or less are sold with UK VAT included by the seller, while on goods above £135 the VAT is paid to the delivery company on the total value of the package, including any duty and postage. A trade order of twelve decks, $190.80 of goods plus $33.00 delivery, is above that line, so for a shop the second rule is the normal one.
What that means in practice depends on whether you are VAT-registered. Gov.uk’s VAT guidance for imports says a VAT-registered business can use postponed VAT accounting, declaring the import VAT on its VAT return and reclaiming it as input tax in the same return, so it does not have to fund the VAT at the border. A business that is not VAT-registered pays the import VAT and cannot reclaim it. Your accountant can say which applies to you; we do not give tax advice.
Customs duty, and what the UK–Ukraine agreement changes
Gov.uk says customs duty may apply to goods worth more than £135, at a rate that depends on what the goods are and where they come from. The place to look is the UK Trade Tariff: enter the commodity code for your goods and the country of origin, and it shows the duty. We do not quote a rate here because the right code and rate depend on the product you import and on the day you check.
For goods made in Ukraine there is a second thing to check. Gov.uk’s summary of the UK–Ukraine agreement explains that preferential tariffs apply as set out in the agreement, provided the goods meet the rules of origin, meaning they are wholly obtained in Ukraine or sufficiently processed there. It also notes that in some cases the standard applied rate may be lower than the preferential one, so check both on the Tariff.
Paperwork: EORI, declarations and who clears the parcel
Gov.uk notes that an EORI number is needed to make customs declarations as an importer, and that deferment accounts exist for businesses that want to pay duty and VAT later in one go. Most businesses get a courier, freight forwarder or customs agent to handle declarations; the carrier will tell you what it needs from you before it delivers. If you import regularly, set this up once before your first order rather than at the door.
The carrier and the declaration are the part that varies by shop, so tell us your VAT status and delivery address in the quote form and we will confirm the delivery line for you. The wider picture of import duty and tax on tarot is in the guide to customs duties and import tax on wholesale tarot cards.

A first UK order, from quote to shelf
Plan on the order being made rather than pulled from a warehouse shelf: 3–4 weeks for a made-to-order run, then 5–9 business days to Great Britain. The editions we keep in stock can be ordered from 5 of an edition; a made-to-order edition starts at 12. Most shops start with twelve decks mixed across two or three designs and reorder before the first lot is gone.
If you want your own artwork or your own brand on the box, the custom run is at the same minimum and the same ladder and takes 3–4 weeks after artwork approval; see custom tarot printing. For routes into the UK from Ukraine and the EU, ordering tarot decks from Ukraine for EU and UK shops sets them side by side, and shipping to Europe and the UK covers minimums.
Common questions
- What does it cost to buy tarot decks from Ukraine as a UK shop?
A complete boxed 78-card deck is $15.90 from 12 decks, $190.80 of goods, and delivery to Great Britain is a separate $33.00 for twelve decks ($2.75 a deck). Import VAT and any customs duty are set by UK rules and are not included in either figure. Prices were read live on 4 November 2026.
- Do I pay import VAT on a UK wholesale order?
Gov.uk says VAT is paid to the delivery company on goods above 135 pounds, on the total value including duty and postage. A VAT-registered business can use postponed VAT accounting and reclaim the VAT as input tax on its VAT return; a business that is not registered pays it and cannot reclaim it.
- Is there customs duty on tarot decks from Ukraine?
Customs duty may apply to goods above 135 pounds. The rate depends on the commodity code and origin, so check it in the UK Trade Tariff. Gov.uk says the UK and Ukraine have a trade agreement with preferential tariffs when the rules of origin are met, and that the standard rate may sometimes be lower, so compare both.
- Do I need an EORI number?
Gov.uk says an EORI number is needed to make customs declarations as an importer. Most businesses use a courier or customs agent to make the declaration, and the carrier will say what it needs before delivery.
- How long does delivery to the UK take?
Made-to-order decks take 3 to 4 weeks to produce, and delivery to Great Britain is then 5 to 9 business days. Delivery is $33.00 for twelve decks and is paid with the order, because payment is by prepayment.
- Can I mix designs in a UK order?
Yes. Editions we keep in stock can be ordered from 5 of an edition and designs can be mixed across the catalogue; an edition made to order starts at 12 decks.
