Tarot accessories are the three objects that decide how long a deck lasts and how a reading feels: something to read on, something to carry it in, and something to keep it in. We make all three to fit our own 78-card decks, $20.00 to $30.00.

What each one is actually for

Reading cloths — $20.00

A cloth does one unglamorous, decisive thing: it keeps the card faces off the table. Wood grain, crumbs, a ring of condensation and the grit on any surface are what scuff a deck, not shuffling. It also gives a spread a defined edge, which matters more than it sounds — the cards stop drifting and a ten-card layout stays readable. Four colourways: vintage, black, black and gold, and pink, all cotton, all large enough for a Celtic Cross with the deck beside it.

Velvet bags and bag-and-cloth sets — $20.00 and $30.00

A bag is how a deck survives a handbag. Velvet with a drawn cord, sized for a full 78-card tarot deck rather than a playing-card pack — the usual mistake with a generic pouch is that a tarot card is noticeably taller, so the cards sit proud of the opening and the top edges take the wear. Four colourways on their own, and two sets that pair a bag with its matching cloth at $30.00, which is the combination most readers end up buying anyway.

Engraved wooden card boxes — $30.00

A rigid box is the only one of the three that protects the card edges, which is where a deck shows its age first. Ours are wood with an engraved lid — a pink lotus, and a sun and stars — and they are sized so a deck plus a folded cloth fits inside. If a deck is going to live on a shelf or an altar rather than in a bag, this is the one to take.

What to buy with a first deck

If you buy one accessory, buy the cloth: $20.00, and it prevents the kind of damage that no amount of careful shuffling undoes. If you buy two, add the bag. If the deck is a present, take the deck’s own Gift Set option instead — at $59.99 it includes the box, the cloth and the bag together and costs less than buying them separately. Every deck lists that option: see all tarot decks, or the shortlists for gold foil, holographic, plastic and waterproof and beginners.

Sizing, plainly

Everything on this page is cut for a standard tarot card, which is larger than a playing card — that is deliberate, because the 1909 illustrations need the room. Our bags and boxes take a full 78-card deck with space for the printed guidebook to sit alongside rather than on top. If you are fitting an accessory to a deck from another maker, measure the stack height as well as the card: a laminated deck is slightly thicker than the same deck in plain stock.

Shipping and returns

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a tarot cloth?

Need, no. But it is $20.00 against a $34.99–$59.99 deck, and the damage it prevents — scuffed faces from table grit, rings from a cup — is the damage that cannot be undone. It is the first accessory we would buy.

Will your bags fit a deck from another brand?

Almost certainly, if that deck is a standard-size 78-card tarot. They are cut for a tarot card rather than a playing card, with room for a guidebook alongside. Oversized art decks are the exception — measure first.

What is the difference between a bag and a box?

A bag protects the faces and makes the deck portable. A box protects the edges, which is where a deck ages first, and is the better choice for a deck that lives on a shelf. The bag-and-cloth sets at $30.00 cover the portable case; the wooden boxes cover the other.

Is it cheaper to buy the accessories with the deck?

Yes. The Gift Set option on any deck bundles the rigid box, the reading cloth and the velvet bag for $59.99 total, which is less than the deck plus the three bought separately.

Do you sell accessories wholesale?

Yes, alongside the decks — bags, cloths and boxes are part of the trade range. Terms are on wholesale and custom printing.
