Wholesale Tarot Cards for Shops: Stock Decks From 12

A physical shop can buy wholesale tarot cards from 12 decks at $15.90 per complete 78-card deck, which is $190.80 of goods, with the printed box already inside the price; the guidebook is an electronic PDF that the buyer gets by personal link, not a printed book. Delivery is a separate line quoted by destination: twelve decks to a US address is $36.00. Prices are in US dollars and were read from the live calculator on 2 November 2026.

The short answer: what a shop pays for 12 decks and up

Decks in the order Per 78-card deck Goods total
12 — the minimum $15.90 $190.80
24 $14.90 $357.60
48 $12.90 $619.20
96 $11.90 $1,142.40
192 $10.90 $2,092.80

This is one ladder for every ready deck in the catalogue. The more you order in one go, the lower the price per deck, and there is nothing to apply for first: trade pricing starts at twelve decks at the ordinary checkout. Insured delivery is quoted by destination and sits on top. For example, 12 decks to the United States is $36.00 and 12 decks to Great Britain is $33.00.

A shop usually needs only two numbers to decide: what one deck costs on the shelf, and what the first order adds up to. At twelve decks that is $15.90 a deck and $190.80 of goods before delivery. That is a small enough opening order to test a shelf without tying up the till.

Need 10, 20, 30 or 50 decks? Here is the price

Orders go in dozens (12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and so on) because our printer works in multiples of 12. Take the next dozen up: the price per deck is fixed before you order, and the totals below are the goods only, shipping extra.

You need about Order Per deck Goods total
10 12 $15.90 $190.80
20 24 $14.90 $357.60
30 36 $14.90 $536.40
50 60 $12.90 $774.00

Need exactly 50? Order 48 ($619.20) and top up from retail, or 60 ($774.00) and keep spares. Delivery is quoted separately by destination.

Why a shop stocks tarot and oracle decks at all

Tarot is one of the few lines that suits a gift shop, a bookshop and an esoteric or crystal shop at the same time, and each of them sells it for a slightly different reason.

Gift shops sell a boxed deck as a present that looks considered. Every ready deck here arrives in its own printed box, and the guidebook is an electronic PDF the buyer receives by link, so the customer is handing over something finished, not a loose stack of cards. Bookshops like the shape of the line: a deck is small, flat, easy to face out and does not go out of date the way a dated title does. Esoteric and crystal shops already have the customer who wants a first deck, a second deck, or a deck for a friend, and a mixed shelf of several designs is a stronger reason to come back than one repeated title.

If you also want oracle cards, there is a 44-card oracle format at $12.90 per deck at twelve units. It is a different shelf from tarot, usually a cheaper impulse buy next to the till, and it is worth a line in the first conversation if you already know your customers ask for it.

Margin maths: $15.90 cost against a $34.99 shelf price

Margin is easy to get wrong because delivery arrives as its own line. So here are both views, worked on a shelf price of $34.99 and before any sales tax you collect.

Order size Cost per deck (goods) Gross margin on goods Margin %
12 decks $15.90 $19.09 54.6%
24 decks $14.90 $20.09 57.4%
48 decks $12.90 $22.09 63.1%
96 decks $11.90 $23.09 66.0%
192 decks $10.90 $24.09 68.8%

Now add delivery for the opening order. Twelve decks to a US address is $36.00, or $3.00 a deck. That takes the landed cost of each deck to $18.90, so a deck sold at $34.99 leaves $16.09, or 46.0%. If all twelve sell at the full price, the order brings in $419.88 against $190.80 of goods and $36.00 of delivery, which leaves $193.08.

Two honest caveats. First, the delivery cost per deck falls as the box gets fuller, but we do not publish a flat per-deck rate for larger orders; ask for the figure for your destination. Second, $34.99 is an example shelf price, not a recommendation: you set your own price, and there is no resale condition attached. Rent, staff and your local tax come out of the margin before it becomes profit, which is why a first order of twelve is a test and not a business plan.

Mixing designs: how to choose the first 12

You do not have to take twelve of one design. A 12-deck order may be mixed across the catalogue as long as you take at least five of any single ready-stock edition. That means the smallest mixed order is something like five of one design and seven of another. If you are unsure about a split, the quote form can confirm it before you pay.

For a first order, two designs usually teach you more than one. Pick one that is dark and dramatic and one that is lighter, and see which one the staff talk about and which one customers pick up. Do not buy the full range on day one; a shelf with three or four faced-out decks looks stocked and gets noticed, while a shelf of twenty spines looks like a library.

Once you know the winner, the second order is easy to size. Move to 24 and the price drops to $14.90 a deck, or to 48 at $12.90, and put the winner at the front in multiples.

Display, price and reorder: what to do on the shop floor

A few habits cost nothing and change how a deck sells.

  • Face out, do not stack. The box art is the sales pitch. One face-out deck per design beats a dense row of identical spines.
  • Keep one open deck for browsers. Customers buy tarot after they have seen the cards; a single display deck that people may handle sells the rest.
  • Put it next to what it pairs with. Candles, journals, crystals, cloths and bags are the natural neighbours, and a deck at $34.99 lifts the basket value.
  • Write the price and the contents on a shelf card. “78 cards and box” answers the first question every buyer asks.

For reordering, count what sold after the first few weeks and compare it with the lead times. A production run takes 3–4 weeks after artwork approval, then 5–9 business days by insured UPS, so a shop should reorder when the shelf is about a third full, not when it is empty. The page on ready decks shows what is on the shelf now.

Own-brand decks for a shop with a name of its own

When a shop has its own identity, the next step after a good first order can be a deck under its own name: your artwork, your box, your own insert, at the same twelve-deck minimum and the same price ladder. Where we have to lay something out, there is a one-off charge of $50 for the box, $50 for the card back and $150 for the insert layout, and all three are free from sixty decks. The detail is on the custom printing page.

Common questions

What is the minimum wholesale order of tarot decks for a shop?

Twelve decks. The price is $15.90 per complete 78-card deck, with the printed box included (the guidebook is an electronic PDF sent by link, with no printed book in the box), and it drops to $14.90 at 24, $12.90 at 48, $11.90 at 96 and $10.90 at 192.

Does the $15.90 cover shipping?

No. Delivery is quoted separately by destination. As an example, 12 decks to a US address is $36.00 and 12 decks to Great Britain is $33.00.

Can I mix designs in one 12-deck order?

Yes, with at least 5 of any single ready-stock edition. A one-design order of twelve is also valid.

What margin can a shop make on a $34.99 deck?

On goods alone a deck bought at $15.90 leaves $19.09, or 54.6%. After $3.00 a deck of US delivery on a 12-deck order it leaves $16.09, or 46.0%, before sales tax and your own costs.

Do you sell oracle decks as well as tarot?

Yes. At twelve units a 44-card oracle deck is $12.90, priced separately from the tarot ladder.
